We have multiple benefits for CIAT students using employer tuition assistance to fund their education. If you have not heard of employer tuition assistance before, please visit this link for more information


First and foremost, CIAT offers a 50% tuition discount for students using employer tuition assistance benefits for their education at CIAT. This is a limited time offer – this tuition discount is currently only available for students completing their enrollment by June 30, 2024. 


One key advantage of using employer tuition assistance is the tax benefit associated with the $5250 rule, which allows students to exclude up to $5,250 of employer tuition assistance benefits from their taxable income. In plain language, your tuition assistance benefits are not added to your wages and compensation for tax purposes. The $5,250 rule applies to the combined benefits received from your employer’s tuition assistance program and any student loan debt repayment assistance they may offer.


Please note - the $5250 rule is often the lowest general amount you can receive for this tax benefit; be sure to look into your specific employer as they may offer higher amounts.


Here are some examples of companies currently offering employer tuition assistance:


  • Apple/EdAssist: Provides up to $5,250 annually in tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at accredited schools.
  • Amazon: Amazon’s Career Choice program directly pays educational costs after 90 days of employment for bachelor’s degrees, associate’s degrees, certifications, job training, and more.
  • Target/Guild: Offers tuition-free options at 40+ schools, up to $5,250 tuition reimbursement at accredited institutions, and direct tuition payments for both full-time and part-time employees.
  • FedEx Express & FedEx Ground: Employees can receive up to $5,250 per year in tuition assistance with no lifetime maximum through direct pay or reimbursement options. FedEx Ground team members can contact Edcor at 888-901-6337 to utilize their “FedEx employer tuition assistance” benefit.

These are just some of the many companies investing in education assistance for their teams. Be sure to check your employer’s specific policy and take advantage of any tuition assistance or reimbursement programs available to you.
